  • "The fragility of today's economy demands that we, as investors, allocate our assets with more prudence and focus than ever before. The authors' prescience in their first book lends credence to their new warnings. This book deserves our attention."

Robert Friedman , Former CFO , Goldman Sachs

  • "Aftershock is a superb exegesis of how our damaged economy is in for further difficulties. Since the authors hedge their predictions not at all, a second event in which they will have been proven correct will lead to a very special stature."

Stanley Goldstein , Founder , New York Hedge Fund Roundtable

    Robert Wiedemer, President and CEO

Robert Wiedemer is a Managing Director at Absolute Investment Management and co-wrote the landmark book, America’s Bubble Economy, published by John Wiley in 2006, that predicted the current downturn in the economy.  As Paul Farrell, Senior Investment Columnist at Dow Jones MarketWatch recently said, “In short, America's Bubble Economy's prediction, though ignored, was accurate.”  Kiplinger’s chose it as one of the best business books of 2006.

His following book, Aftershock, was published by John Wiley in November 2009.  It was chosen by Smart Money magazine as one of the five best investment books of 2009.  Aftershock and America’s Bubble Economy have been the subject of articles in the major press, including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Hedge Fund Journal, Euromoney, Barrons, Reuters, AP, Bottom Line and others.  Aftershock and Aftershock second edition have sold nearly 500,000 copies.

Mr. Wiedemer speaks to groups of investors, financial analysts and economists, including the New York Hedge Fund Roundtable, Association for Corporate Growth, The Turnaround Management Association, the World Bank, the CFA Societies of Chicago and San Francisco, and the National Press Club.  He is also a frequent commentator on TV including CNBC’s Squawk Box and Fox Business News.

    Dr. David Wiedemer, Chief Economist

Dr. David Wiedemer is the Chief Economist for Absolute Investment Management.  His co-authored landmark book, America’s Bubble Economy, published in 2006, accurately predicted the Great Recession and the popping of the housing, private credit, stock and consumer spending bubbles.  His series of predictions and convictions were contrarian to – and more accurate than – most major economists and government officials.

He is also co-author of the Wall Street Journal Bestseller, Aftershock, published in 2009, and most recently, Aftershock second edition in 2011.  His insightful analysis provided the macroeconomic basis for the economic analysis and predictions contained in the book.

Dr. Wiedemer holds a PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Wiedemer began his career as an entrepreneur co-founding a NASDAQ listed information services company which was based on his patented information technologies.

Prior to writing America’s Bubble Economy, Dr. Wiedemer worked on developing a new economic framework for better understanding how the economy evolves called STEP Evolution (STEP stands for the Science, Technology, Economics, Politics).  STEP Evolution is the basis for his highly accurate and prescient predictions about the present and future economy.
